Research / Safety

Krills are small shrimp like crustaceans that inhabit the cold ocean areas around the world, primarily the Antarctic and north pacific oceans. Like fish oil, krill oil is rich in essential DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids. Also, it contains astaxanthin, a strong antioxidant, which makes it better than fish oil.

Benefits of advanced omega krill omega-3

  1. Higher bioavailability

EPA and DHA in krill oil are chained together in a double-chain phospholipid form, which is found in human body fat cells. This structure makes the omega-3 fatty acids in krill oil more easily absorbed by the body than fish oil. Also, krill oil is highly digestible, meaning that there are no “fish burps.”

  1. High orac value

In addition to EPA and DHA, krill oil contains astaxanthin, which is a powerful antioxidant. The antioxidant potency of krill oil was found to be 48 times more potent than fish oil in terms of orac (oxygen radical absorption capacity) values.

  1. Concerns about heavy metal and environmental effects

Krill is at the bottom of the food chain and collected in the pristine seas surrounding antarctica, far from pollution. Thus, it is safer from the accumulation of mercury, PCBs, heavy metals or other toxins that other marine-sourced oils may contain.
